But have any of you share your experience with adding Guru systems to your Good One Smoker?

I own an older model Guru, but have never tried it on my Good-One...never needed it. :)

We have tried for the last year to get a hold of the BBQ Guru through e-mail and phone.
we have never gotten a response from them, so I would say that if they will not return a call or e-mail on a customer wanting to buy the product, I would question "why" some one would want to buy the a product that has a farly complex setup and requires modifing your smoker with such crappy followup and support.

Actually the support at BBQ Guru is quite good. I'm not sure why they didn't respond to you. I will give it a shot on Monday for you. I'll give you a call.
In the mean time, if anyone is going to buy one for The Good One, make sure you get the 25 cfm motor.Rex

If you want a Guru for the Good One, here's what you need:
1 CyberQ II
2 Bulkhead Adaptors
2 25 CFM Fans
2 Sets of Probes (2 meat, 2 pit)
You would need to drill 2 holes for the adaptors, so you may want to check with Chris about the dealer warranty.
If you had any questions, BBQ Guru's phone is 1-800-288-4878. go to the sales dept. I usually talk to Sarah or Bob. Both are very nice people, and very helpful.
I do own a DigiQ II, and they work great, but the CyberQ handles 2 fans and probes.
I hope this helps.Rex

Good Info Rex. I've also spoken to Sarah and she was very helpful. Which Good One do you have? I have the Open Range and think it only need 10cfm fans. I'll have to confirm. At the time I spoke to her they were still working out the adapters. Good to know they figured it out.

Hi Ranch13Q,
I have an Open Range. One 10cfm will handle an area 16"x16" with no problem. If you go by that, 10's would be enough, but if I were ordering one for the Open Range, I would still get the 25's. You aren't using your spinners for temp control, so I want to make sure there is enough power.

You don't need a Guru system for The Good-One. These smokers control temp so well...the Guru would be overkill! If you need that much help with temp control, I would suggest you just buy BBQ instead of trying to cook it.

I have used the guru with my ceramic egg smoker for the last six months and I have not used my Good-One since I got the guru for use with the egg. Simply put, I can start a fire the night before, get the temp right and then turn on the guru and let it do its thing. I then go to bed, sleep late and everything is perfect in the morning. It is a no-brainer to use a guru for low and slow cooking such as pork butt rather than checking the Good-One every couple of hours and fiddling with the spinners and damper. There is no comparison between the degree of temperature control using a guru and adjusting the damper.
I emailed Chris almost a year ago asking how to modify the Good-One Open Range for use with the guru but got no reply. Now that the BBQ-guru has determined how to attach a guru, I will modify my Good-One and perhaps begin to use it again. It does a better job, IMHO, than an egg on many cuts of meat.
As to B-Rush, like many guru users, I am a very good cook, but I also like to get a good night's sleep. Your comment was simply wise ass and arrogant.

Chris P, Please review my response from above, I contacted the company multiple times to get a configuration setup for the Good-One smokers, buy I NEVER got a call back or even an e-mail response back, so that tells me that do not want do business with the Smoker line. I wanted to sell them as an Optional upgrade to the smoker.
I had to resort to having a friend call them RexH and get a configuration for the Open Range. So you can see that I, don’t have a sweet taste about the Guru.Chris, I did a class in Parkville last Saturday and I need Brisket and butts cooked for the class I started my Open Range at 11:00 PM and put a butt and Brisket on an went to bed and got up at 6:00 AM and the smoker was running 200 after 7 hours and the briskets and butts were 180 and ready for he class. I did not check the smoker 1 time during the night.
I did the same thing at the Lenexa BBQ with a Rodeo on Brisket, I put it on at 11:00 with the smoker running 275 and came back at 8:00am and the smoker was running 200 and the briskets were 180 ready to finish. The Brisket placed 1st out of 197 teams.
Chris, please call if you have any questions 913-488-4013

I called BBQ Guru yesterday. I had no idea what this even was! Sarah answered on the second ring and was very helpful. I haven't ordered yet. RexH setup above is a lot of $$$. More than what I paid for my 30-P (now the Open Range).
RexH....where exactly did you drill the adaptor holes? You only get one chance to drill it right!!!
Oh ya.....Sarah said BBQ Guru had spoken to Chris (M) "SEVERAL TIMES". Kinda makes you go HMMMMMM!
